Mike Anderson is currently a Sr. Project Lead and Embedded Systems Architect for The Aerospace Corporation based in Chantilly, VA. With over 40 years in the embedded and real-time computing industry, Mike works with a number of RTOS offerings for IoT devices. However, his focus over the past decade is primarily embedded Linux on a number of CPU architectures. Mike is a regular speaker at the Embedded Linux Conference, Sensors Expo as well as other Linux, embedded and IoT-oriented conferences. Ongoing projects include several efforts focused satellite development, AI/ML in space applications and supporting real-time, enhanced Linux platforms. Additional projects include work with mesh wireless topologies, 6LoWPAN and multiple robotics projects including working as a mentor for high school robotics with the FIRST Robotics Program.
Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering

Behnam Dezfouli is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Director of SCU IoT Research Lab, at Santa Clara University (SCU), USA. Before joining SCU, he was a Postdoctoral Research Scientist and a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa, US, during 2015 to 2016. Behnam Dezfouli served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and a Research Fellow for University Technology Malaysia, Malaysia, and Institute for Infocomm Research, Singapore, during 2014 and 2012, respectively. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from University Technology Malaysia in 2014. His research interests are Internet of Things, software-defined networking and virtualization, security, and cyber-physical systems. He is currently an associated editor of IEEE Communications Letters journal, and the chair of IEEE ComSoc Santa Clara Valley Chapter. He has served as the TPC member of several conferences.
Brian Geisel is the CEO of Geisel Software, a custom software company with special expertise in embedded and application software and a passion for staying ahead of the technology curve. Brian has worked with some of the most visionary hardware, software and security companies, influencing design decisions for medical device and robotic solutions. Throughout his career, Brian has skillfully applied innovative technology to solve complex problems and vet new solutions. He is currently collaborating on several projects with NASA.
Vice President of Marketing, Wireless, Connectivity and Signal Process Division
Irvind Ghai focuses on innovative connectivity solutions for the Service Provider, IoT, Industrial and Automotive markets. His charter is to create value for ON Semiconductor’s customers via end-to-end infrastructure and client platforms. Prior to that, he was Vice President for the Connectivity Business Unit of Qualcomm Technologies, where he oversaw product management and business development for Wi-Fi, mmWave 60GHz and 4G/5G Small Cell solutions for the Home and Enterprise. He is experienced in defining market strategies leveraging PON, DSL, DOCSIS, Video and VoIP platforms given his time with Texas Instruments. Irvind holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas.
Senior Director, Developer Relations
Jim Katsandres leads the Developer Relations activities at the Bluetooth SIG. His international team works to provide developers the information and resources they need to create the next generation of Bluetooth enabled products and services.
Katsandres has been in the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud and device space for over 25 years working within platform technology, software as a service, embedded original equipment manufacturer, system integrator, independent software vendor and consulting organizations.
Prior to working at the Bluetooth SIG, Katsandres served in senior technology and business positions at Microsoft, ARM, Buddy Platform, BSQUARE, Honeywell, GE Grid and AMTEC (mathematical modelling and optimization consultancy).
Katsandres holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics degree from the University of Washington. Born in Fairbanks Alaska, he now lives in the Seattle area and enjoys boating and the outdoors with his family.
Muhammad Shafique is Product Manager at Mentor, a Siemens business Embedded Platform Solutions division. He has over 17 years of experience in the embedded software and his experience spans from deeply embedded software to all the way up to the higher layers of embedded software stack and device management in cloud (e.g. Internet of Things, edge stacks, industrial connectivity, etc.). In his current role he is responsible for IoT/Cloud integration strategy for embedded Linux as well as real-time operating system products from Mentor Embedded Platform Solutions division. He holds bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Anne Marie Shaw
Annie is the Marketing Director for North America for Tuya Smart. She is a seasoned marketer and communications expert. Previously, she served as the Marketing Lead for the Zigbee Alliance where she brought IoT solutions to market with global smart home industry leaders. She holds a PhD in Linguistics from Rice University.
Dr. Paul Smith

ICOS Atmospheric Station
Dr. Paul Smith gained his PhD in Atmospheric Science from the University of Leeds, where he built a chemiluminescent ozone sensor using 3D printed components. He has held research positions at the University of Cambridge, Kings College London and University College Cork, pioneering novel sensor technologies. He currently works at the forefront of climate change research within the ICOS consortium, a pan-European project to standardise greenhouse gas measurements across the European continent. Residing in northern Sweden he regularly drives to southern Europe in his electric car to escape the dark winters.
Adiuvo Engineering and Training
Adam Taylor is an expert in design and development of embedded systems and FPGA’s for several end applications. Throughout his career, Adam has used FPGA’s to implement a wide variety of solutions from RADAR to safety critical control systems (SIL4) and satellite systems. He also had interesting stops in image processing and cryptography along the way. Adam has held executive positions, leading large developments for several major multinational companies. For many years Adam held significant roles in the space industry he was a Design Authority at Astrium Satellites Payload processing group for 6 years and for three years he was the Chief Engineer of a Space Imaging company, being responsible for several game changing projects.
FPGAs are Adam ‘s first love, he is the author of numerous articles and papers on electronic design and FPGA design including over 330 blogs and 25 million plus views on how to use the Zynq and Zynq MPSoC for Xilinx.
Adam is Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Visiting Professor of Embedded Systems at the University of Lincoln and Arm Innovator, he is also the owner of the engineering and consultancy company Adiuvo Engineering and Training
Director of Engineering/Technical Content
Raymond Yin is responsible for the engineering and technical content at Mouser Electronics, which includes the Technical Resource Center, Application and Technology sites, solution newsletters, technical articles, blogs, technical videos, e-books, and other content. Having been in the industry for more than 28 years, he has an extensive engineering background with knowledge on the newest products, technologies and trends. Raymond holds a BSEE from Southern Methodist University.
